Dear De Stijl Friends Silly Season has arrived with a bang - we have had a busy couple of months on the conference scene, Sonja Heroldt spent a wonderful, motivational morning with us and the ladies from the area and the cherry on the top was surely the hotels owners being awarded as Free State Entrepreneur of the Year and nominated for the national award by Business Partners! We look forward to a busy end of 2009, for the Hotel it has been a fruitful and productive year but I am sure most of us are happy to see 2009 go down in history! |

Thanks A big thank you to the Karoo Development Foundation for choosing De Stijl to host their recent conference - Karoo Tourism and Heritage Conference. The Karoo Development Foundation is an exciting initiative aimed at marketing the Karoo through cooperation from the Free State, Eastern Cape and Northern Cape. Led by Prof. Doreen Atkinson of the UFS - this committee is aiming at putting the Karoo on the world tourism map, much like the Australian Outback, but only in a better way! We look forward to great cooperation and outcomes. |

Charity begins at home... The De Stijl Hotel firmly believes in giving back to our community and we have done so in numerous ways this year, notwithstanding the recent golf day held at the Gary Player stud by MAD (Make a Difference Foundation). De Stijl sponsored a weekend for eight guests to the value of R15 000 for the auction. The MAD Foundation, started by Francois Pienaar in 2003 provides educational opportunities to deserving youngsters in South Africa. Other members of the MAD Bunch as they call themselves are Martin Johnson, John Smit and Nick Farr Jones. |
