The Race was on... The annual Kaskar Rally was held on the 12 September - Gariep Dam was in a buzz. Thirty cars took part this year including a De Stijl car. The race track is the hill overlooking the dam, complete with sharp bends, steep drops and hazardous corners! The locals fight it out each year to win the much-coveted floating trophy. Congratulations to all the winners, Roadcrete Africa won overall, in 2nd and 3rd place were two locals from Gariep Dam - Bertus Hanekom, and Anthony Stidworthy who set a new coarse record of 1:30 seconds for 1.45km track. The good news is - next years event will run over 2 days and will be a National Event with the same specifications as the Red Bull Downhill Extreme. We look forward to extreme downhill racing at Gariep! |
